Tips for Parenting a Senior
Remind Your Student about Graduation Deadlines
Graduation requirements vary by college. Urge your student to see their academic advisor for more information. General information about UNM’s commencement ceremony can be found here.
Be a Listening Ear
Senior year is a mix of nostalgia and preparation. Your student is looking to the future while still trying to soak up the remaining college experience. Your student may appreciate someone to listen to them reminisce, as well as someone with whom they can bounce ideas about graduate school, a career, where to live, and so forth.
Remind Your Student about Career Services
Your student can receive one-on-one career coaching, resume assistance, and much more from the UNM’s Career Services office. All their services are free for all UNM Alumni for life, so even if they get into the job market and get stuck after their time at UNM, they can always seek out help at the UNM Career Services office. They are located at the University Advisement and Enrichment Center, building 85 room 220 on the second floor and can be reached at 505-277-2531 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
